🖥️ For providers using the Oasys web app. What you see depends on the features turned on for your account and on what each client chooses to share with you.
This article shows you how to follow your clients' health and progress in Oasys. It covers the Health Dashboard, wellbeing scores, assessment scores, wearable data, AI observations, mood journals, diary cards, what clients share with you, and the health insights you see around sessions.
In this article
1. The Health Dashboard
Each client has a Health Dashboard that brings together all their health and progress data in one place.
To find it, open a client from My clients. The Health and progress tracking section sits at the bottom of the client's page, below their details and session list. It has these tabs:
Overview: wellbeing score graph and AI-generated general observations.
Quality Measures: clinical assessment scores over time (a drop-down: pick an assessment).
Health Stats: wearable device data (a drop-down: Sleep, Activity, Nutrition, Vitals, Menstruation).
Mood Journal: mood entries logged by the client.
Diary Cards: DBT diary cards, when turned on for that client.
✅ Good to know: Some tabs only appear when the matching feature is turned on for your account or practice. If you don't see a tab, the feature may not be active for your account (see Turning features on and off).
Why can't I see the Health Dashboard?
Small screens: the dashboard is hidden when your browser window is narrower than a tablet (under 768 pixels wide). Widen the window or use a larger screen.
Care-team access: if you see a client through the care team only (the blue notice at the top of the page says you have treatment or viewer access to their shared chart), the Health Dashboard isn't shown. Health dashboard data is only available to the client's assigned owner.
Charter school mode: practices running in charter school mode don't show the Health Dashboard.
Quality Measures missing: school-based practices don't show the Quality Measures tab.
2. Wellbeing scores and progress graph
Wellbeing scores give you a simple view of how a client is doing from session to session.
Find it in the Health Dashboard → Overview tab → Progress tracking (left panel).
After a session is completed, Oasys can automatically generate a wellbeing score from 0 to 100, using Oasys's own models.
Scores are plotted on a progress graph so you can see trends over time.
The graph shows up to 6 data points per page, with arrows to page back to older sessions.
Hover over a point to see the date and the exact score.
Scores are color-coded (from green for higher scores to red for lower scores) rather than labelled.
💡 Tip: You need at least 2 sessions with wellbeing scores to see the graph. Until then, the panel says Not enough session data to show wellbeing scores. Scores are generated automatically, so you don't need to enter them.
Turning wellbeing scores off
Go to Settings → Clinical → Feature settings and find AI settings.
Switch off Session analysis ("Auto-generate AI insights and mood scores after each session").
Sessions after that won't get a score. This toggle only appears if AI session insights are available for your account.
3. Quality measures (assessment scores)
Track standardized clinical assessment scores over time. When you assign assessments to a client and they complete them, their scores are plotted on a graph automatically.
Find it in the Health Dashboard → Quality Measures tab.
Supported assessments
PHQ-9: depression screening
GAD-7: anxiety assessment
DASS-21: depression, anxiety, and stress (3 separate subscales)
DASS-Y: the youth version of the DASS (3 separate subscales)
PSQI: sleep quality
PCL-5: PTSD symptoms
SSAS and HBI-19: additional specialized measures
EDE-Q: eating disorder symptoms
SPIN: social anxiety
What you see
Assessment selector: the Quality Measures drop-down lists only the assessments this client has completed. If there are none, it says No completed assessments found with a Click to Assign link.
Score graph: a line chart of the client's scores over time, with colored severity threshold lines.
Latest score card: the current score, with how much it has gone up or down since baseline (the first score) and since last (the previous score).
For DASS-21 and DASS-Y: separate rows for Depression, Anxiety, and Stress, each with a vs Base and vs Last comparison.
Assessment description: a brief explanation of what each assessment evaluates.
To start tracking, assign an assessment to the client from the Documents tab (or use Click to Assign). Each time they complete the same assessment, a data point is added to the graph.
4. Health stats from wearables
If your client connects a wearable device or health app, their health data syncs to Oasys and you can view it by category.
Find it in the Health Dashboard → Health Stats tab → choose a category. Each category lets you switch between a week and month view and step back through earlier periods.
Sleep
Average total sleep, average awakenings, average sleep efficiency, average sleep time, and average wake-up time
Sleep Duration chart with a Deep, REM, and Light sleep breakdown (when the device reports sleep stages)
Sleep Efficiency chart
Naps are not counted in sleep totals
Activity
Average activity minutes, average active and total calories, average steps, and an activity streak (in days)
Daily Steps chart (or Activity Time if the device doesn't report steps)
Recent Activities list with each workout's name, date and time, duration, and calories
Nutrition
Average calories, total meals, average protein, average water, and average fiber
Macro Distribution chart (protein, carbs, and fat as a share of the total)
Calorie Intake chart
Vitals
Average, maximum, and minimum heart rate
Oxygen saturation and VO2 max
Heart Rate chart (resting and average heart rate) and Oxygen Saturation chart
Menstruation
Average cycle length, average period length, total cycles tracked, and days until next period
Cycle-phase timeline (Menstruation, Fertility Window, Ovulation Day, Regular Phase)
Current cycle day, cycle length, ovulation day, and fertility window
More than one device
If a client uses more than one device, you see their data from all connected sources combined.
Clients can filter their own charts by device. That filter isn't shown on the provider side.
If a client re-links or reconnects the same device, Oasys keeps their data from it as one history, so the same night isn't counted twice.
⚠️ Important: Each health data category is controlled separately by the client's data sharing settings. A category the client hasn't shared, or that has no data yet, is greyed out in the Health Stats drop-down. See What your client shares with you.
5. Which wearables clients can connect
Clients connect devices themselves, from Settings → Data Integration in the client portal or Settings → Data Integrations in the Oasys iOS app. The portal offers these:
Apple Health: through the Oasys iOS app only. On the website, the Apple Health tile tells the client to download the Oasys app and connect from there.
Google Health (Fitbit)
Garmin, Oura Ring, and Whoop
Flo
Strava, Peloton, Zwift, and Technogym
MyFitnessPal and MacrosFirst
Samsung Health, Dexcom, and Eight Sleep also appear in the list but can't be connected.
Fitbit and Google Fit can't be connected (see Fitbit and Google Fit).
Disconnecting removes history. If a client disconnects a device, syncing stops and the health data Oasys has already collected from that device is removed.
6. Fitbit and Google Fit
Fitbit and Google Fit can't be connected to Oasys. Clients with a Fitbit device connect Google Health (Fitbit) instead, from Settings → Data Integration.
A client who had a Fitbit or Google Fit connection sees a notice on their Health Stats page and on Data Integration with a Connect Google Health button. They'll be asked to sign in and approve sharing again.
They don't need to disconnect Fitbit first. Disconnecting would remove the Fitbit history already in Oasys.
History already synced stays on the client's Health Stats charts. Data keeps coming through once the client connects Google Health.
💡 Tip: What to tell a Fitbit client: "To keep your sleep and activity data coming through, open Settings → Data Integration and click Connect Google Health. You don't need to disconnect Fitbit first."
7. General observations and Copilot
Oasys writes AI-generated observations to help you spot patterns worth discussing in session.
Find them in the Health Dashboard → Overview tab → General observations (right panel).
Observations draw on the health data the client shares with you and on their completed documents (such as assessments).
They can include sleep, activity, and nutrition summaries, and patterns worth discussing in session.
A short loading sequence shows while Oasys drafts them.
To ask questions in plain language, for example "How has their sleep changed over the past month?", use the Copilot button in the client header (if Copilot is turned on for your account). Copilot can only use health data and mood entries the client shares with you. If something isn't shared, it says so.
8. Mood journal
Clients can log their mood throughout the day using the mood journal.
Find it in the Health Dashboard → Mood Journal tab. As their provider, you see:
Summary stats: Average Mood (1-5), Entries This Week, and Total Entries.
Recent Mood Entries: color-coded cards showing the mood label (for example, "Excited", "Worried", "Overwhelmed"), associated activities, notes, and timestamp. Four per page, covering roughly the last year.
Most Common Activities: tags showing which activities the client logs most often.
Click any mood entry to see the full details, including all activities and notes. Mood colors:
Green: Excited, Grateful, Content, Optimistic
Teal: Relaxed, Peaceful, Focused, Mindful
Blue: Down, Lonely, Disappointed, Hopeless
Orange: Worried, Overwhelmed, Restless, Panicked
Purple: Exhausted, Sluggish, Unmotivated, Burned out
Red: Frustrated, Angry, Resentful, Rage
⚠️ Important: Mood data is controlled by the client's data sharing settings. If the client hasn't turned on Mood Data sharing, the Mood Journal tab doesn't appear on their dashboard.
9. Diary Cards
Diary Cards are a structured daily self-tracking tool based on the standard DBT (Linehan) diary card.
Find them in the Health Dashboard → Diary Cards tab. A diary card tracks:
Emotions: intensity ratings for Happiness, Sadness, Anger, Fear, Anxiety, Shame, Guilt, Envy, Jealousy, Disgust, and Love.
Urges: Urge to Self-Harm, Suicidal Ideation, Urge to Use Substances, and Urge to Quit Therapy.
Target behaviors: yes/no items for Self-Harm Actions, Suicidal Behaviors, and Medications as Prescribed.
DBT skills practiced: across the four skill modules of Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness.
Turning Diary Cards on for a client
Check that Diary Cards are available for your account or practice.
Open the client's page, click the settings (gear) button, and choose Preferences.
Switch on Diary Cards.
The Diary Cards tab then appears on their Health Dashboard, and the client can fill in cards from their portal.
Reviewing cards
The tab opens on the current Monday to Sunday week. Use the arrows to move between periods, or click the date to pick up to 7 days (quick picks: Today, Last 3d, Last 5d, This week).
The grid shows each day's ratings with heat-map shading: warmer colors for higher distressing emotions and urges, green for positive emotions and skills.
Completed cards show the date and time they were completed. Cards saved but not completed are marked draft.
Click Trends to graph up to 3 fields over 30, 60, or 90 days. Only scale and "urge + did it?" fields can be graphed; yes/no, number count, and free-text fields can't.
Safety alerts
A red Safety Alert appears at the top of the Diary Cards tab if a card has any Suicidal Ideation rating above 0, or an Urge to Self-Harm rating of 3 or more. It reads "Diary card from [day] has elevated urge scores". Click Acknowledge once you've reviewed it.
Customizing a client's diary card
Click Customize Fields to open Diary Card Configuration:
Standard fields: switch individual emotions, urges, behaviors, and skills on or off.
Turning off Urge to Self-Harm or Suicidal Ideation asks you to confirm (Turn off safety field?), because it also clears any active safety alerts that field raised on past entries. Turning it back on restores them.
Custom fields: add your own questions (for example, "Phone use before bed"). Choose a category (Emotions, Urges, Behaviors, Skills, Notes) and an answer type (Scale, Yes / No, Number count, Urge + Did it?, Free text), then click Add Field.
Editing: you can rename a custom field in place.
Archiving: archiving a field removes it from the client's daily form but keeps every answer already saved. Archived fields still show in past entries, labelled "(archived)", and can be restored from Archived fields.
"My client says they filled in their diary card, but I can't see it"
Diary card entries are only visible to you if the client shares them with you. When a client saves a card, sharing is normally switched on automatically, but not always (for example, if the client sees more than one provider with Diary Cards turned on).
If sharing is off, the Diary Cards tab looks empty and says No diary card entries yet, even if the client has entries.
Ask the client to open Settings → Data Sharing in the client portal and switch on Diary Cards. Their existing entries then appear on your Diary Cards tab.
💡 Tip: If the client has sharing on and entries still don't appear, contact Oasys support with the client's initials and the dates involved, rather than asking the client to re-enter them.
10. What your client shares with you
Health data your clients create themselves (wearable data, mood entries, and diary cards) belongs to the client, and you only see what they choose to share with you.
Clients control this in Settings → Data Sharing in the client portal, with a separate switch for each of:
Sleep Data, Activity Data, Nutrition Data, Menstruation Data, Body Metrics, and Daily Activities (wearable data)
Mood Data
Diary Cards (shown when Diary Cards are available to the client)
Sharing is with you specifically. If a client sees more than one provider, they decide separately what each provider can see.
If a client turns a category off, it disappears from your view: the Health Stats item greys out, the Mood Journal tab disappears, or the Diary Cards tab looks empty.
Provider-written documentation (session notes, assessment results, treatment plans) is not controlled by these switches.
11. Pre-session health insights
Before or during a session, the Session Preparation Notes panel can include health-related insights:
TL;DR summary: quick highlights of what's important for this session.
Recent health trends: notable changes in sleep, activity, or mood since the last session.
Relevant health observations: patterns the AI has identified that may be clinically relevant.
Prep notes only use health and mood data the client shares with you. You can also ask follow-up questions using the session assistant chat during the session (see During any session).
12. Session wellbeing scores
Each session with a wellbeing score shows a colored vertical bar on the right edge of its session card in the client's session list.
The bar height represents the wellbeing score.
The bar color follows the same color scale as the progress graph (green = higher, red = lower).
The "Wellbeing score:" label appears next to the session date.
Joint sessions don't show a wellbeing bar.
Click any session card to see the full session details, including the AI-generated analysis.
Wellbeing scores are generated in the background after a session completes. They may take a moment to appear, so look for the processing indicator on the session card.
Frequently asked questions
How are wellbeing scores calculated?
After a session completes, Oasys's own models produce a score from 0 to 100. You don't enter them yourself. You can turn them off with Session analysis in Settings → Clinical → Feature settings → AI settings.
Can clients see their wellbeing scores?
No. Wellbeing scores are only shown on the provider side. Clients see their own mood journal and health stats.
What if a client doesn't use a wearable?
The Health Stats categories stay greyed out, but you still have the mood journal, quality measures, wellbeing scores, and session prep insights. Wearables are optional.
How do I get quality measure data?
Assign standardized assessments (PHQ-9, GAD-7, and so on) to the client from the Documents tab. Each time they complete one, the score is tracked automatically in Quality Measures.
Can clients control what health data I see?
Yes. Each category (sleep, activity, nutrition, menstruation, body metrics, daily activities, mood, and diary cards) has its own switch in the client's Settings → Data Sharing.
What wearable devices are supported?
Clients can connect Apple Health (through the Oasys iOS app), Google Health (Fitbit), Garmin, Oura Ring, Whoop, Flo, Strava, MyFitnessPal, Peloton, Zwift, Technogym, and MacrosFirst. Samsung Health, Dexcom, and Eight Sleep appear in the list but can't be connected. Fitbit and Google Fit can't be connected; clients with a Fitbit use Google Health instead.
My client uses Fitbit. What should they do?
Ask them to click Connect Google Health in Settings → Data Integration. They don't need to disconnect Fitbit first. History already in Oasys stays, and data keeps coming through once they connect Google Health.
If my client reconnects their device, will their data be duplicated?
No. When a client re-links or reconnects the same device, Oasys keeps their data from it as one history. Note that fully disconnecting a device first removes the data already collected from it.
Why is my client's Diary Cards tab empty when they say they've filled it in?
Most often, the client hasn't shared diary cards with you. Ask them to switch on Diary Cards in Settings → Data Sharing. See Diary Cards.
